Old Grayson Cemetery

While there is no specific date for the founding of this cemetery, it is one of the earliest burial grounds tied to Grayson. The oldest marked stones date back to the mid-1800s.

The cemetery serves as the resting place for many early families and includes both marked and unmarked graves. Some may represent those who could not afford headstones or whose markers were lost.

There are numerous Civil War graves here, both Union and Confederate. Captain Stephen Nethercutt and Dr. John Quincy Stovall are among those buried here.

This cemetery was also central to Civil War reunions, where veterans gathered to honor fallen comrades and decorate graves.
