Stovall Memorial Hospital

119 South Hord Street, Grayson, KY 41143

Stovall Memorial Hospital was founded in 1927, beginning as a small six-bedroom facility. By 1942, it had expanded to a twenty-bed hospital with modern equipment such as x-ray machines and blood transfusion apparatuses.

Founded by Dr. J. Watts Stovall in honor of his father, Dr. J. Q. Stovall, the hospital provided care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. It served the community for decades, delivering babies, performing surgeries, and offering medical services.

The hospital closed in 1964 due to financial pressures and changes in the medical field. In 1968, the building was purchased by the city and repurposed for municipal use. Today, it stands as a reminder of the important role it once played in the community.
